The bag: The Push Lock

Why I love it: I don’t wear a lot of color, but my favorite pop in an accessory is red. The Cambridge Satchel Pushlock in red is the perfect size and color for just about every look from day to night.

The outfit: Because this bag suits afternoon and evening looks, I decided to match an equally transitional outfit. Maybe because I’m a 90s kid, but the black slip dress is my go-to. It always works and never goes out of style.  I kept it very minimalistic by just pairing a strappy point toe shoe and finishing with the red pop in the bag. Head to toe you have a look that’s cool, chic, and works for bopping around the city day or night.

The location: Another one of my favorite NY areas: SoHo. The SPOT for shopping in NYC as it has everything from mainstream to boutique and spans a large portion of the downtown area. Cobblestone streets filled with coffee shops and one of a kind retailers, you can find me here most days of the week. When working and running errands, I like my look to be easy and light so a slip dress and small crossbody are the perfect combination for just that.

If I could sum this look up in three words I’d say: minimal, light, easy.

The bag: Small Portrait Backpack

Why I love it: There’s nothing chicer than a structured bag and I love how efficient a backpack can be in terms of size and portability-- especially when you live in a city that requires a lot of running around. The less hassle the better and this burgundy is the perfect tone to work into your fall wardrobe.

The outfit: I like to have certain elements of contrast in most looks I create, so I juxtaposed the boxy backpack with a casual but quintessential white tee. But by rocking a new denim silhouette like the cropped wide leg and a Parisian-influenced neck scarf, I manage to turn simple basics from 0 to 60 in seconds. This look is chic while still super easy/comfy to move around in.

The location: We shot this at the park at Roosevelt Island. A tiny island in between Manhattan and Brooklyn, it’s a beautiful spot to take in all the views. The park has some stunning architecture and big lawn that’s great for lounging with friends or having a picnic.

If I could sum this look up in three words I’d say: cool, casual, chic. More to come with my collaboration with Cambridge Satchel Company!

The Kooples Blouse & Jacket (coming soon AW16) / DL1961 Denim / Steve Madden Shoes / Dannijo Choker

Dudes. Sorry for the hiatus. Needless to say juggling styling, blogging, NYFW, and social media can get a bit time consuming!! I'm so excited to be back to share my favorite fashion week looks and trends I'm pumped about for Fall 2016.

I always find (especially during February FW) that the coat and shoe are the makers or breakers of the look. My failproof pieces for an elevated OOTD (and with some added Kate Moss vibes) are point toe lace ups and a fur topper. I'm a sucker for point toe in general as it tends to lengthen the leg and the lace up detail adds that extra sex appeal. Everyone has an opinion so no matter which (faux) fur you prefer, it can take virtually any outfit and turn it into something amazing. Silky detailed blouse by current favorite, The Kooples, highwaisted skinnies, and a sick choker finish off a chic monochrome look. And what's more New York fashion than all black? Click HERE for more on this look and a NYFW diary in collaboration with Steve Madden!

A Few Favorite Shops

Tom Dixon.jpg ABC Carpet & Home.jpg 9th St. Haberdashery.jpg Concrete + Water.jpg Electric Nest.jpg

Maybe it's because the holidays are just around the corner or because I've been discovering some amazing new shops lately, but I wanted to share some of my favorites stores in New York that not only have amazing products but an equally amazing space to hold them. Check out my deets below :)

Tom Dixon: New to Manhattan, this cult British brand has nestled itself just perfectly into the NYC retail world and with some differentiation to boot. The moment you walk into the store you feel like you might like an espresso, a coffee table book, and your most sophisticated friend to gab endlessly with. The space is chic and modern yet still inviting, perfectly complimenting its products that are full of innovation and attention to detail. Be prepared to be inspired to fully redecorate your apartment around Tom Dixon's new store & products at 243 Centre Street.

ABC Carpet & Home: I still remember the first time I entered this store and it has been a essential stop for anyone I give a tour to. ABC Carpet & Home is seven stories of some of the most amazing home pieces. But it's so much more... It's its own world. Full of whimsical aromas, beautiful fabrics and carpets, an even an amazing restaurant inside, it's almost like being transported to another country. Also, keep an eye out for celebs as I ran into Blake Lively while showing my mom around! Block out at least an hour to explore at 888 Broadway.

9th St. Haberdashery: A new find on my vintage list, this store holds carefully curated vintage pieces with everything from delicate lace dresses to embroidered silk jackets, even perfect denim and essential worn in tees. The shop has a feeling like you're in your most fabulous grandmother's closet (minus the cobwebs), bright and charming. Owners Stacey and Meridith have some amazing experience in the vintage industry and will find you pieces that are quintessentially you while setting you apart from the rest.  Visit them at 346 E. 9th St.

Concrete + Water: Next stop, Brooklyn. C+W has a special place in my heart as it was started by my a close friend and fashion aficionado, Hannah Dilworth, along with fiancé DJ Guckstern. Centered in the heart of Williamsburg, the space is clean and open, artfully displaying unique brands and products not often found in the city. As you walk to the back, you'll discover an amazing backyard that's home to designer trunk shows, parties, and concerts, nonetheless inviting you to stay a while. Just off the L, check them out at 475 Driggs Avenue, Brooklyn.

Electric Nest: It's not often you find a modern designer so attune with design and what women want to wear. Leana Zuniga designs pieces that aim to transition from day to night and even between seasons. She uses unique fabrics and innovative silhouettes that sets the brand apart from the rest. And the space Electric Nest compliments the brand it holds just perfectly. The warm and welcoming space encourages you to explore the designs' and space's intricate details. Make the trip to 60 Broadway, Brooklyn and you won't be disappointed.

The Bargain District Crochet Top / Victoria's Secret Bikini / Soludos Slides / Spitfire Sunnies

Most people have no clue that New York has beaches! And I don't know what I'd do without them! I grew up driving to NY every summer for a family reunion of sorts, and it always involved beaching and boating! Since age 6, the waters of Long Island have transformed from a playground to a place of tranquility. Now working in the city (and in the fashion industry no less), heading to my aunt's little house on the canal is truly my therapy. It's the perfect place to unwind and relax in the summer. You'll often find me there for an entire weekend, no makeup, tangled hair, swimsuit 24/7. There's something so carefree and easy about it all. Shop the links above to get your perfect "no-fuss-easy-beach" look.

J. Crew Sweater (similar) and Pumps (similar)/ Tobi Shorts / Brixton Cap

Boy meets girl. It so accurately describes a lot of what I wear. I love to contrast some element of the outfit so I don't full girl or full boy. This bouncy knit paired with tiny printed shorts start you off with a playful vibe. Add patent, bright blue pumps and you're almost at full girl when  you switch it up with the perfect "denim" cap. Loved the hipster, boy element of this hat by one of my new favorite hatmakers, Brixton. Shop the links above to get your perfect "boy meets girl" look.

Vintage YSL Blazer via The Bargain District / Target Basic Tee / Vintage Levi's Cutoffs / Tibi Slingbacks (similar) / Outlette Necklace and Rings

Revamp your 80s power suit. This vintage YSL blazer caught my eye immediately with its boxy shape, pinstripe, and pristine tailoring. But when working it into an outfit, I had to take extra care to keep it from looking dated. I tamed the shoulderpad-bearing jacket by pairing it with a simple, white tee and vintage Levi's cutoffs. The more casual vibe of the top and shorts modernize the blazer while letting it be the focal point of the outfit. Pair the whole look with a simple sneaker or fun heel for a more streetstyle look. Shop the links above to get the exact blazer and more :)

Striped & Cropped Sweater / Vintage Skortalls / Atelje 71 Laceup Sandal / Gorjana Bracelet and Sophie Harper Ring via Rocksbox / Outlette Necklace and Rings / Vintage Rings

We all know I'm a sucker for anything 90s. Cropped, denim, any type of onesie? Make it a full on affair. While sometimes I go for a full on 90s look with no shame, I like to "cool it up" a bit by adding other silhouettes and elements in the outfit. The main element I added to the 90s inspo of this look was a sporty, rugby vibe alla Alex Wang spring 2010. A thick, rugby stripe and full-on lace up sandals with a deconstructed skate/cleat quality add an unexpected flair to the 90s silhouette of the "skortall" and cropped sweater. Shop the links above to get my look and mix up your throwback game...pun intended.

Vintage L.L. Bean Jacket / Vintage Denim Shirt / Vintage Levi's Cutoffs / Arizona Birkenstocks / Vintage, Handmade, and

My boyfriend likes to call me "denim warrior" and for good reason. Denim is a major part of my daily wardrobe, so you can often find me in denim on denim... on denim, which of course, is where this nickname comes from. I've done a few lessons on AVV about wearing denim on denim, and here I'm going all out. And all out vintage for that matter. Some of the best vintage pieces I've found (and that I tend to wear the most) are amazing denim styles that I've found for a bargain. You can go to those high end boutiques and spend $200-$300 on vintage Levi’s OR you can go to your local thrift store or Etsy and buy them at more than a tenth the cost! I scored these vintage Levi’s cutoffs at the infamous No Relation/L Train Vintage for $7, this shirt at the Brooklyn Flea for $15, and this vintage L.L. Bean jacket at The Vintage Twin pop up shop for $65!

Now for the styling! I mixed the washes a bit, contrasted the roughness of the denim, and played with the buttoning for a peek of skin. While the pieces are oversized, the little details of pulling a back tuck on the shirt, keeping the pieces open, and that dose of skin make it fresh. Shop my look above (I found the exact jacket for you on Etsy!) and check out some of these vintage/thrift spots when you are next in NY! You’re in for a deal!

Tela Crop Top / American Apparel Skirt / Zara Sandals (similar) / J.Crew Earrings / Kate Spade Necklace / Outlette Necklace and Rings

The temp hit above 70 this gorgeous day in Dumbo, Brooklyn and I was instantly ready for summer. There was something about the atmosphere paired with this fun look that had me craving frozen margaritas along the waterfront. I loved playing with the proportions of the skirt and the crop top while piecing this outfit together. The circular, a-line shape of the shirt and the skirt may seem competing while on the hangar, but once they’re on, it hits just right! While I love this look as a whole, the piece that takes it to the next level is the gorgeous statement earrings compliments of J. Crew. They add the perfect amount of POP and are a sure way to get jaws dropping. Shop the links above to get my festive summer look!

Lack of Color Hat / BB Dakota Duster / Cotton On Tee / Vintage-Handmade Polo cutoffs / Asos Booties (similar) / Handmade, Vintage, Outlette Rings

I've recently become hooked on hats. Well-made? Amazing shape? A good hat can take your look from 0 to 60 real quick. Some notable hatmakers can top out around $300 but I managed to find a brand with the same quality as those more notable brands at a fraction of the price. Meet Lack of Color. An Aussie brand (ps I'm also hooked on Australian brands lately- thinking a visit is in order soon enough!) that kills it in craftsmanship and price. I only found it fitting to pair their Montana style with an outfit as amazingly western. Clean white and denim, a contrast length duster, and kick ass boots finish off the look. Shop the links above to get it now. TGIF and hats off to an amazing weekend!

Urban Outfitters Tee (on sale!) / Williamsburg Garment Denim / Marc by Marc Pump

Many may not know that I originally grew up in Tennessee, but I have always felt like my roots are in New York. My parents grew up here, I visited constantly in my youth, and after my first summer internship, I knew that Manhattan was as I like to call it "the hometown of my soul" and that I would be back for good. In these photos, my tee, the local Brooklyn denim, the black and white color palette, and the breathtaking World Trade Center personify all that is NEW YORK. So I only found it fitting to make this post a bit of a love letter, an ode if you will, to this amazing city I call home.

#LiveInLevis

L Train Vintage Levi's Buttondown and Cutoffs / Converse / Wanderlust & Co, Outlette, Handmade, and Vintage Rings

My true love for vintage started with my first pair of vintage Levi's cutoffs. I still have them and wear them even though they're half falling apart out of sheer love and nostalgia. So needless to say, there has always been a special place in my heart for Levi's! Here I decided to pay a special tribute to Levi's and my tomboy side while exploring Astoria, Queens. These cutoffs are a bit oversized so I switched things up by only keeping the top button secured. It adds a bit of surprise and sex appeal to what would've been as I like to call, "a full on boy outfit"! Happy exploring with #LiveInLevis!

DKNY Leather Jacket / House of Harlow Silk Overalls (similar) / Asos Top / Asos Boots (similar) / Vintage Levi's Belt

There was something about this look that had me feelin' like Gwen Stefani. Maybe it was the loose overalls, the leather, the chunky belt? No matter what specifics, the 90s grunge vibe had me singing "Don't Speak". I channeled my inner bad ass by mixing different silhouettes like an off the shoulder top, slinky overalls, and structural leather lines. Add a deserted rooftop and wild-wind hair and I was set! Shop the links above to achieve the look!

Morgan Lane Bra and High Waisted Panties / Yankees Hat

In honor of opening weekend for the New York Yankees, I found it most fitting to highlight one of my solo looks from the infamous shoot at the Nomad Hotel. A little girly and a little boyish charm to this at-home look describes a great bit of my personality and style. Highwaisted, retro, and delicate details in this gorgeous set from Morgan Lane contrast with my favorite Yankees ball cap. Have a little fun this Saturday. Take a day just for you, crank the tunes, throw on you favorite feminine and masculine pieces, and dance like nobody's watching!
