Won Hundred Denim Top / Etre Cecile Star Denim / Matt Bernson Clogs (similar) / Zac Zac Posen Bag / Vintage Choker / Vintage Levi's Belt

Not sure if it's the western trend that stuck with me since it's return a few years back or perhaps the original influence of my birthplace of "the great state of Texas", but notes of denim, vintage Levi's paraphernalia, and metal accents tend to creep up in my everyday dressing. These classic items are fail-proof and my favorite thing that brands have been doing are taking those pieces and updating them with a fresh twist. Take these boyfriend/mom-fit jeans for instance, Etre Cecile has added an embroidered star print for something fun and different. The denim work shirt takes a minimalist update from brands like Won Hundred. And metal accents finish off a vintage choker and clean leather clog. It's all in the fine details that take items (and outfits) from 0 to 100. Shop the links above to check out these cowgirl favorites and more.

Alice McCall Romper / Sigerson Morrison Booties

Occasionally, but just occasionally, I can tap into my feminine side. Though a tomboy at heart, there's certain frills and ruffles that always get me, like this romper from Alice McCall. Eyelet details and scalloped edges accent the blouson details of this onesie with perfect girlish flair. To juxtapose it all, I chose a western boot for its pairing. Saloon vibes anyone? Finished with a "mullet" hairdo (business in the front, party in the back), I completed a look that's feminine but with a twist. Links above to get the look!

Lack of Color Hat / BB Dakota Duster / Cotton On Tee / Vintage-Handmade Polo cutoffs / Asos Booties (similar) / Handmade, Vintage, Outlette Rings

I've recently become hooked on hats. Well-made? Amazing shape? A good hat can take your look from 0 to 60 real quick. Some notable hatmakers can top out around $300 but I managed to find a brand with the same quality as those more notable brands at a fraction of the price. Meet Lack of Color. An Aussie brand (ps I'm also hooked on Australian brands lately- thinking a visit is in order soon enough!) that kills it in craftsmanship and price. I only found it fitting to pair their Montana style with an outfit as amazingly western. Clean white and denim, a contrast length duster, and kick ass boots finish off the look. Shop the links above to get it now. TGIF and hats off to an amazing weekend!

GBA: It's Festival Season

House of Harlow Romper / Boots / Madewell Hat / Vintage Necklaces, Bracelets, and Rings / Gorjana Lariat / Madewell Arrow Necklace / Outlette Rings

In lieu of Coachella Weekend #2, I found it only fitting to post my festival inspired look. You can take your look so many ways when headed into a musical weekend. There's cutoffs, croptops, swimsuits, body chains, and everything in between. I decided to highlight though one of my hero pieces and favorites for summer: the romper. Easy and breezy and this one has a perfect shape! Added my new western-inspired straw hat, loaded on the jewelry, and finished it with a classic black boot. Now you may be wondering, "What is GBA?" With notes of "Americana" in the shots, I only found it fitting to include my favorite phrase in the title: God Bless America. Anyone who knows me, knows I'm a bit sarcastic and so this is my "oh my god" or "holy crap" subsitute. haha! Click the links above to shop my look and god bless America, it's festival season!

Vintage Coat / Men's Mossimo Henley / Joe's Jeans / See by Chloe Booties (similar) / Jenny Bird Necklace and Gorjana Rings via Rocksbox

This past weekend I went on a total tear at one of my favorite vintage shops in the city. No Relation Vintage has the widest assortment of product and all at amazing prices. This coat, for example, was hanging at the end of a rack of shortalls (which I bought three of) and it was a whopping $15! I knew it was fate ;) The navajo-type print goes along with the whole western vibe of the season and everyone knows I'm a sucker for anything oversized. Shop my look above (I found my exact coat on Etsy!) and happy thrifting!

Ring It In

Slide1

Invaluable Ring / Uniqlo Sweater / Michael Kors Skirt / Hunting Season Clutch / Plomo Mule

Have you ever had a piece of jewelry that you absolutely love but have no clue what you would actually wear it with? Rings have always been my favorite, so when I find a gorgeous vintage one like above, I allow it to inspire me. The turquoise and western vibe of this piece immediately drew me to a fringe skirt. Paired with a snake skin clutch, cozy sweater, and pointy mule, I complete the look just from that single little ring! Check out the links above to shop the look and Invaluable for more amazing rings.

Vintage Leather Jacket (here or here) / Men's Mossimo Tee / Vintage Bandana Scarf / Loomstate Denim (similar) / See by Chloe Booties

If you've been with me from the beginning, you may recognize this gem of a jacket. I snagged it at the Brooklyn Flea (one of my favorites), and it has been one of my favorite statement jackets ever since. Last time, I showed you how to wear it transitioning to spring/summer, and now, fall/winter. Maybe it's due to my original Texas roots, but I love a good Western vibe (especially if it involves fringe). I decided to throw a bit of caution to the wind and go full on Western with my fringe jacket, bandana, and we're bringing backed the bootcut for a hot moment. If you're not ready to go full on, I would maybe lose the bandana and try and skinny jean for a more toned down look. Whichever way you choose to go, anything western or fringe is a good idea :)

Falling for Fringe

Raquel Allegra Dress / Tibi Slingbacks / Gorjana, Ariel Gordon, Jennifer Zeuner, Vintage Rings

Ever since the Western revival via Chanel's Dallas show, I have been utterly obsessed with fringe. And I am LOVING how each designer/brand has brought its own interpretation to the trend. This Raquel Allegra piece is a perfect play on the classic tshirt dress. Wonderfully minimal and versatile with a pop of stringy goodness. I amped it up a bit by naturally pairing fringe with fringe. The thick fringe detailing on these structural Tibi heels is everything! Whether you take it in more of a western direction like I did HERE or a bit more minimal like above, you'll be swinging in the right direction ;)

Vintage Fringe

similar Vintage Fringe Leather Jacket / similar LOFT dress / similar Zara booties / Vintage, Handmade, UO Rings

Needless to say since I first posted about the rise of western (via the Chanel show of course), fringe has been cropping up more and more. When I spotted this vintage fringe jacket at the Brooklyn Flea Market, I knew I had to have it! Not to mention most current jackets like this can run anywhere from $200-$1800, and mine only set me back $80! The white color keeps it fresh and allows me to pair it with anything from a shifty, knit dress to your favorite cutoffs and a tee. Whether you live or are visiting Manhattan, visiting Joan Van Hees Vintage booth at the Brooklyn Flea is worth the trip!
