Free People Wrap Top / EDIT Denim / Steve Madden Shoes / Oliveve Clutch (similar) / Shahla Karimi Hoops / Vintage Glasses

Forever a fan of all things oversized, I've been loving that denim's trend has been anything but fitted. And the wider the better! Snug at the waist but extra large in the leg, I love these denim culottes by EDIT. I took the xl flare to it's roots with a full 70s inspired look + aviators to boot. Shop the links above for my look and the below for other oversized denim favs.

Marques Almeida Blouse / Citizens of Humanity Pant / Point Toe Mule / Oliveve Clutch /Shahla Karimi Hoops / Layering Rings

Hi there! It's a been quite some time... trust me I know, but I hope you've been able to to bear with me and have continued to follow me on instagram during my blogging hiatus. The styling world can suck you in and in lieu of attempting to keep myself balanced and average a bit more than 3 hours of sleep per night, I set blogging aside for a moment. BUT I'm happy to share that I am back and ready to share more looks, styling tips, and vintage inspirations so stay tuned for more goodness :)

I wore this during NYFW last year and it is one of my favorite looks to date. The drop crotch lightweight pant, point toe mule, textured clutch, and last but not least, the most epic raw edge ruffle denim blouse. Together, it's effortlessly chic and foolproof no matter the season.

Won Hundred Denim Top / Etre Cecile Star Denim / Matt Bernson Clogs (similar) / Zac Zac Posen Bag / Vintage Choker / Vintage Levi's Belt

Not sure if it's the western trend that stuck with me since it's return a few years back or perhaps the original influence of my birthplace of "the great state of Texas", but notes of denim, vintage Levi's paraphernalia, and metal accents tend to creep up in my everyday dressing. These classic items are fail-proof and my favorite thing that brands have been doing are taking those pieces and updating them with a fresh twist. Take these boyfriend/mom-fit jeans for instance, Etre Cecile has added an embroidered star print for something fun and different. The denim work shirt takes a minimalist update from brands like Won Hundred. And metal accents finish off a vintage choker and clean leather clog. It's all in the fine details that take items (and outfits) from 0 to 100. Shop the links above to check out these cowgirl favorites and more.

Sandy Liang Dress / Atelje 71 Sandals / Zac Zac Posen Bag / Sunday Somewhere Sunglasses / Tuleste Earrings

In lieu of Sunday's 75 degree weather, I only found it fitting for a quick flashback to my favorite piece from NYFW: the denim apron. Little did I know I needed it until discovered by design favorite, Sandy Liang. This was the perfect tent dress for a sweltering fashion week and works seamlessly into it's apron duties in the fall season with some simple layering techniques. I would layer a favorite tee, turtleneck or thin knit sweater on top and jean (duh) on the bottom or a knit pant for a real cozy outfit. Shop the links above to get my denim apron look complete with fun accessories head to toe.

Rachel Comey Denim Trench, Crop Top, Shorts / Tory Burch Platforms

We're taking the Canadian Tuxedo to a whole new level. Denim brand fav with the always essential nod to the 90s, Rachel Comey comes in for the denim win as I pair denim on denim on denim. I practically fell on the floor when I discovered these drawstring denim shorts in their NYC showroom this spring. Flashback to circa 1998 when I used to rock balloon shorts that were way to big for me (and needless to say not much has changed). I added a slight roll at the bottom to get a bit more leg and an epic platform espadrille by Tory Burch for added leg length. To show off that epic waistline, I paired the shorts with a patchwork denim crop top. Topped off with probably the softest denim I've encountered, this trench if worn open displays all the details and has an awesome flow as you walk. You'll be feeling like a denim super hero. Shop the links to get my denim dream.

Sonia Rykiel Denim Top / Rachel Comey Jeans / Tory Burch Wedges

If you've been following AVV for a while, you know I'm a lover of denim. From $5 vintage cutoffs to discovering the newest denim brands all over the US, denim is one of my favorite categories. A closet staple but constantly being reinvented and reimagined, jeans in any color, shape, and form create a great palette to build your look upon.

One of my favorite silhouettes that has risen again is the relaxed, straight leg. We take the 90s version, lighten the fabric in both weight and color and create the perfect pair to match with just about anything in your closet. I was sucked in by the denim on denim addict inside me and paired these perfect straights with one of the most epic denim shirts and gold molded wedges I've ever encountered. The tonal embellishments on the top and metal sculptural quality in the shoe add just that extra bit of flair to take your denim from basic to "high street chic" in seconds. Shop the links above to get the look and stay tuned for more denim favorites!

Kiliwatch Paris Vintage Jacket (similar) / Helmut Lang Top / SmithLab Scarf / A Gold E Denim / Tibi Mule

Channeling my love for some 70s rock & roll vibes with this look. The skinny scarf made a comeback thanks to Chloe's FW15 show and it's been knocking on every fashion girl's door since. I'd been endlessly searching for the perfect, thin scarf that was quality made and not a million dollars. I finally found the one via Etsy shop, SmithLab. Quality silk, the perfect length and width, this scarf will last me a life time. I added it to this beautiful threadbare tunic, distressed (and super soft I might add) jeans, and a classic mule. It was freezing when taking these shots so the fur was necessary and also happened to be the perfect finishing touch to this 70s rock comeback look. Kiliwatch Paris Vintage Denim Dress (here or here)/ Stuart Weitzman OTK Boots / Cambridge Satchel x Vivienne Westwood Crossbody

I swoon for most things denim and/or tent-like. So when I spotted this "coat dress" while vintage shopping in Paris, I had to have it. In pristine condition, this distinct mod-inspired piece could be worn as a jacket or a dress like I did here. Stiff, dark denim with seam detailing and exaggerated collar had me weak at the knees. What could be taken in a dated direction, I pushed it to a more modern interpretation (true to form) by pairing it with over the knee suede boots and a classic mini satchel. Unbutton the bottom for a little leg or not, this look could take you from the streets of NYFW to brunching in Brooklyn. Check out the links above to discover one of my favorite Parisian vintage shops and where to find a similar look!

Kat Seaton Top / DL1961 Denim / Marie Turnor Clutch / Pointed Bootie

You may or may not know that it's been unseasonably warm in NY! I legit was wearing this tank in the middle of December! I'm not complaining though. It's the perfect opportunity to play with your style before having to really bundle up! This amazing custom denim shirt by the lovely Kat Seaton is a showstopper on it's own! Tiered ruffles give it a feminine quality but the exaggerated shape gives it that bit of edge that I like. To really let it shine, I kept my jeans and boots in fail proof black and added a subdued pop of color with my lunch bag clutch. Shop the links above to get the look and happy "winter"!

Vince Tee / Diesel Black Gold Denim (similar) / Vintage Rings

When I had the opportunity to collab with Diesel Black Gold, it was the perfect match. Their downtown cool feel is one of my favorite vibes and a great contrast to this little beach on the edge of Williamsburg. Sand between your toes, wind in your hair, and one of the chicest and sexiest looks, baggy jeans and a black tee. There’s something incredibly raw and organic—no muss, no fuss. I love how these boyfriend jeans have such an ease and comfort about them. I wore them here barefoot on the beach and then later that night gave them a quick tuck, switched into a slinky tank and chunky mules for an evening oout. Check out the links above and stay tuned for my coverage of their runway show during NYFW!

Forever 21 Buttondown / Vintage Levi's / Bandana / Custom Stan Smith / Vintage Rings / Gorjana Ring via Rocksbox

I've been inspired by the rugged, Americana vibes that are sweeping the fall season with revival of the bandana. My most vivid memories of a bandana are of my dad doing projects all around the house and wearing them on his head to keep the sweat out of his eyes. There's a much less literal use for them these days but also so many different ways to wear them! A favorite and classic of course is around the neck. Another option is tied around a belt loop, stuck in your back pocket like a true cowboy, or twisted and head-wrapped like Rosie the Riveter. It's a great styling piece that adds that little something to even the simplest outfit. Striped button down, mom jeans, classic white sneaks, and a dose of cool added with the bandana. How do you like to wear yours?

Vintage Camisole / Vintage Embroidered Levi's (similar) / Prabal Gurung Sandals / Arrow Necklace / Gorjana Necklace via Rocksbox

There's something so simple but amazingly chic about pairing black and denim. Maybe because they were some the first classics for your wardrobe, and despite the evolution of fashion, they have stood the test of time. The cuts, patterns, and silhouettes have changed thru the decades but each variation holds true in your closet.

I know you're shocked, but I often find my black and denim to have a bit of a 90s vibe to them. Absolutely fell in love with these vintage embroidered Levi's and vintage black camisole. Small details but overall simplicity lend these pieces to be great no matter what you pair them with. I added a lace up sandal to complete the look. Sexy but sophisticated, shop similar pieces above to get some great black and blue worked into your wardrobe.

One Teaspoon Dress / American Apparel Bike Short / Metallic Supergas / Lisa Perry Clutch / Arrow Necklace / Wishbone Necklace

In true 90s baby form, I’m reviving the bike short. Virtually the greatest invention ever (and the latest wardrobe essential you never thought about), the bike short allows you to wear the shortest skirts/dresses and still live your life. AKA sitting in completely weird positions in my chair at work and also avoiding the creeps while walking up the subway staircase. But seriously. Today, I paired my bike shorts with this adorable denim dress by One Teaspoon. This easy summer dress is the perfect blank slate to take the look wherever you want it to go. I took mine a bit street style by adding gold sneakers and a literal statement clutch (hello!) Shop the links above to get my look and bring back your 90s bike short.

Graham & Spencer Top / Vintage Levi Cutoffs / Madewell "Fanny Pack" / Topshop Platforms (similar) / Outlette Necklace / Wishbone Necklace

Ever since I discovered some of my mom’s handknit sweaters from the 70s, the era has forever been present (visible or not) in my style and part of my personality. I love the carefree vibes of the flower child decade. Zero product, wavy hair, center parts, minimal makeup, floaty tops, and the highest platforms you can find. Easy and sexy, you can take the 70s full on or pared back. I reeled in the hippiness a bit in my look today by adding a pair of denim cutoffs to my sky-high platforms and balloon sleeve, embroidered top. Still highwaisted and Levi’s of course, the shorts nod to the 70s without taking it costumey. My favorite part of this outfit: the most amazing fanny pack. Tiny and perfect, this saddle brown belt with a little pouch big enough for your chapstick (#practical) finishes it off with just the right amount of leather. Shop the links above to add some 70s love into your life.
