Kiliwatch Paris Vintage Jacket (similar) / Helmut Lang Top / SmithLab Scarf / A Gold E Denim / Tibi Mule

Channeling my love for some 70s rock & roll vibes with this look. The skinny scarf made a comeback thanks to Chloe's FW15 show and it's been knocking on every fashion girl's door since. I'd been endlessly searching for the perfect, thin scarf that was quality made and not a million dollars. I finally found the one via Etsy shop, SmithLab. Quality silk, the perfect length and width, this scarf will last me a life time. I added it to this beautiful threadbare tunic, distressed (and super soft I might add) jeans, and a classic mule. It was freezing when taking these shots so the fur was necessary and also happened to be the perfect finishing touch to this 70s rock comeback look. Shop the links above to channel your inner Joan Jett.

Alice McCall Corduroy Coveralls / Vince Turtleneck / Stuart Weitzman OTK Boots

I hate being cold, but I love the fabrics that come with winter! Corduroy, suede, velvet, wool, there's a richness to them all that adds a gorgeous depth to your look. Corduroy may bring up visions of ill fitting bootcut pants that you wore in the 7th grade, but thankfully designers like Alice McCall have found new and innovative ways to use the fabric. Love me some overalls and especially the exaggerated culotte leg on this pair! Because of the thick cord fabric, I keep the other pieces of the look very thin. A cotton turtleneck and tight suede boots are chic compliments for the overalls result in a look that is cool and easy. Shop the links above to get the look and don't be afraid to dive into your winter fabrics!

By Malene Birger Blazer (mid December) / Silk Tank / BLK DNM Leather Pant / Diesel Black Gold Sandals / Boera Earrings & Ring

In true AVV fashion, I'm not dishing out holiday outfits that include anything remotely close to sequins, rhinestones, or bauble necklaces. If your heading to the party with the intent of bringing some of the unexpected then I'm your girl. Edge it up a bit! Skinny pants and metal details never hurt anyone. Bringing the A-game cool & chic while still being clean & classic. Who knew the match could be so groundbreaking? A textured blazer by Malene Birger (divine) over an easy silk blouse creates a perfect base. BLK DNM leather skinnies (chic essential) and these amazing studded tassel sandals by Diesel Black Gold... I mean come on now. Finishing the look off with my failproof topknot, matte red lip, and fresh jewelry designs by Boera, you have a "festive" look that will make your best friend scream and your ex cry. Happy Holidays ;)

Vintage Camisole / Zara Overalls (similar) / Adidas Slides / Arrow Necklace / Vintage Rings / Gorjana Ring via Rocksbox

Continuing with this week's "white with black" theme, I decided to break out these amazing button front overalls from Zara. The great shape (dropcrotch anyone?) and little details set these overalls apart from the rest. Keeping things chic, I added my favorite vintage camisole for some clean contrast. This look would be great with a mule or a strappy sandal but I decided to mix things up by adding these sporty slides by Adidas. Shop the links above to get my look and keep an eye for the final white with black look.

Project Social T Scoop Tank / Calvin Klein Sports Bra /  Vintage Bermuda Jean Shorts / Platform Supergas / Arrow Necklace / Gorjana Ring via Rocksbox

I'm thinking it's some sort of combination of loving vintage, watching too many Friends episodes, and living in the lower east side that has me so drawn to 90s minimalism. I find myself constantly having a Monica or Rachel moment if you will ;) So when I found these BERMUDA shorts at my favorite vintage section at Pat Fields I just had to have them! Probably more epic than any of my mom jeans, these jean shorts take the 90s level up about a hundred notches. Bermudas have made a small comeback but I've never quite seen any pair like these. The complete mom fit, right above the knee length, and wash black color. PERFECTION.

Probably a scary feat to the normal shopper, I'm here to show you that bermudas CAN be done in a chic way. #1-- keep it minimal. I wore solely black and white with simple materials and shapes.  #2-- it's all about the shoe. Platform anything or sky high heels take the short to trendier/sexier place. Shop the links above to branch out of your comfort zone with the quintessential bermuda.

The Mode Collective Sandal / LOFT Dress (here or here) / Gap Denim Jacket / Gorjana Necklace and Wanderlust & Co Ring via Rocksbox / Outlette Arrow Necklace and Rings

Thru work and blogging, I have found that a shoe can make or break an outfit. Maybe that's why I have so many pairs ;) But in all seriousness, a shoe can determine the entire vibe of a look-- is it sexy? understated? 90s? sporty? In my final post in this week's ode to The Mode Collective, this sandal takes the look from the 90s vibe and adds a bit of sex appeal. Not only is the height and shape the epitome of sex in a shoe, the texture and pattern adds a great contrast to striped knit and classic denim in the apparel. Shop the links above to get my look above and many thanks to The Mode Collective for an amazing week of shoes!

A New Flare

a vintage vice - emma sousa- 11.jpg

Ribbed Sleeveless Turtleneck / Long Sleeve Crop Top / Alexa Chung X AG Jeans / Tibi Mules / Handmade Square Ring / Outlette Rings

I immediately fell in love when I discovered these cropped flared jeans from Alexa Chung's collaboration with AG Jeans. An updated shape from the typical flare, these high-waisteds are definitely a new favorite for spring. I kept the look clean with what appears to be a black & white top but is actually a layered turtleneck and crop top! I chose structural mules finish things off, but these jeans would also be great with platforms or a classic pump. Shop my look above and try out the new flare.

On Emma: Love Stories Bralette / Only Hearts Bikini On Katie: Huit Bra / High Waisted Lace Panties

These sets are for the creme de la femme. For those less endowed, a bralette with dainty details, and for those more endowed, an underwire with a little capsleeve, these bra options are light, lacey, and girly perfection. I love these bras with highwaisted lace for a bit of retro and ultra-flattering shape, or a bikini lace for a little more show. Add a glass of wine and some good, old-fashioned pillow talk to our sweet nothings for a fun and girly evening.

VEDA Alpine Jacket, Rose Top, Flip Short / Alexander Wang Booties / Vintage Bag and Rings

Since I wore VEDA’s leather shortalls to fashion week last winter, I’ve been hooked. Some of the softest leather I’ve ever touched and innovative design make VEDA one of my favorite up and coming brands.

Black and white has always been one of my favorite combinations and totally on-trend for fall. These VEDA leather shorts, crepe top, and shearling jacket have the perfect b+w combo in wonderfully, differentiating textures. Shop the links above and look for the Alpine Jacket and Rose Top in their resort collection coming soon to thisisveda.com

Jumpsuits never get old for me, especially those with a slightly 70s vibe. They're so easy, comfy, and can instantly make a statement. I loved this graphic, black and white that is so "in" for spring. Paired with sky high wedges, jumpsuits can give even the shortest girl the illusion of length! Total credit goes to my mom on this one as the jumpsuit was part of my care package for Easter along with the essential Peeps and Peanut M&Ms :) Enjoy the weekend and don't forget to follow me on Instagram @avintagevice !

[gallery type="rectangular" ids="326,327,331,334,328,332,333,329,330"] There is nothing like a vintage photo. The photos above encompass a variety of decades, locations, people, and dress that instantly take me in and inspire me to learn more about what lies behind the photo (and the clothes). I may be beating a dead horse, but talk about the cyclical nature of fashion! These vintage photos highlight exactly what I want to wear for the warmer months ahead... (click the links below to see some of my current favs)

  • Wide brim hats
  • Cat eye sunglasses
  • Bright, one-piece bathing suits
  • High-waisted anything and bralettes
  • All white everything
  • Western vibes
  • Stripes
  • Maxi Skirts
  • Deep v's and head to toe print
