Alice McCall Top and Pant / Miista Bootie / Lack of Color Hat / Sunday Somewhere Sunnies

It's been a hot minute but needless to say, the juggle of styling and blogging can get a little crazy! Hopefully you've been following me on Insta to see up-to-date adventures. Speaking of adventures, this look had me ready to travel. Shot at my favorite Greek restaurant in the Lower East Side (Souvlaki), the bright colors and patterns were so fun to play into with my vacay-inspired look. I love a good matching set and I especially admired the unique qualities in this Alice McCall duo. The tailored silhouettes in black added a new edge and menswear quality to a typically feminine eyelet. Paired with a bright boot and straw hat, I created a look that is uniquely mine and has me ready to venture anywhere from Mykonos to Cannes. Any fun summer plans abroad? Comment in the box below!

Mason by Michelle Mason Slip Dress / Alex Monroe Necklace / Pared Sunnies / Tibi Mules

For some reason, the moment I step off the plane in California, I'm smiling. The sun beating down (I'll take an endless summer), the warmth, it's convincing. A usual sucker for all things neutral, this trip was tempting me to whip out my sunshine colored slip dress. Mason makes one of my favorite silhouettes in the silkiest material with the cleanest keyhole you've ever seen. Easy, minimal, slightly sexy, it's the perfect dress for day to night, spring to late summer. The mini length makes it a great fit with a simple sneaker, or mix things up with a metallic mule. Finished with pale pink sunnies and personal jewelry, you have a look that will be turning heads and frowns upside down.

She Made Me Bikini (Bottom) / Graham & Spencer Top / Garrett Leight Sunnies / Espadrille Slides / Vintage Bracelet

There nothing quite like a gauzy top, crochet bikini, and your favorite sunnies to take you instantly into vacation mode. Running through the town and cliffs of La Jolla, San Diego, this was the outfit that had me smiling into the sun. Excuse the paleness, but my obsession with whites and creams runs through winter to summer. I loved the crochet detailing and high neck on this bohemian swim set by She Made Me. Over top I added a (you guessed it) oversized airy top and down below some easy espadrilles. Finished off with very Beatles-esque round sunnies and my list for the day I was ready for some Cali exploring. After some light rock climbing which I'm not sure I'd suggest (#anythingfortheshot) the next spots to definitely add to your list -- Torrey Pines State Park for a beautiful hike, a long drive along the coast, and end the day at Miguel's for a classic frozen marg and the ceviche.

Rodebjer Caftan and Tote (similar) / Splendid Espadrilles / Pared Sunnies

When heading on vacay, the throw-on-wherever-you-are dress is an absolute necessity for me. You can probably relate. Half of the time I pack all these outfits and end up wearing the same few things the whole time. Whether it’s a shirtdress, slipdress, or caftan, having a relaxing vacation includes being comfortable while you’re there. My current beach town essential is the caftan (in true oversized-lover form). This one in particular by favorite Rodebjer is perfect to toss on for a trip to the market or ending the day from the beach to the bar.  I paired mine with a neutral striped espadrille, woven tote, and Joy-inspired sunnies. 70s babe dreams forever. You know the deal --> links above, shop now, etc.

Solid + Striped One Piece / Garrett Leight Sunnies

I’m deeming this week “San Diego Week” as I give you guys an inside look at some of my favorite OOTDs from my trip last month and must-see spots if you’re looking to visit. I may be a March baby but I live for sunshine and summer. San Diego was channeling every bit of it. Suburban but quaint, the colors of the buildings, the cliffs on the beach, and the plants… I have this thing with them and they were unlike anything I've ever seen! The weather had me seriously ready for summer and in real denial when I landed back on the East Coast.

I was utterly obsessed with this area of San Diego called La Jolla. Such a beach town and the views were breathtaking. Near the spot where this was shot was the most beautiful parks, trees, and a beach full of seals. They smelled horrible but were such a sight.

Sea mammals aside, it’s only fitting that I start with my favorite suit of the trip on the cliffs of La Jolla. We all know I’m a sucker for one pieces and I loved the clean lines coupled with the plunging neckline and strap detail on this Solid + Striped gem. Perfect for us less-endowed ladies, this suit ups the sex appeal while still being classic (and classy for that matter). Add this one piece + La Jolla to your list for your next San Diego getaway.

Maison Scotch Top / Frame Jeans / Mansur Gavriel Tote / Vintage Booties (similar)

A big factor when I'm traveling (and for life in general) is finding pieces that balance comfort and style. These Frame jeans were my heaven while traveling to four cities in two weeks on #avveurotrip. Soft as butter and oversized fit gave them that sweatpant feel without looking disheveled. To stay cool, I loved pairing the jeans with airy tops like this Maison Scotch. Super thin cotton and intricate embroidery breathed some life into the look both figuratively and literally. I finished off the look with these amazing western-inspired, vintage mules and malleable leather tote. Shop the links above for a look that not only looks good but feels good, too.

Solid & Striped Anne Marie One Piece (Favorite 1, 2, 3, 4)

Hands down, my favorite moment in Barcelona was discovering this "private" beach. Anyone who knows me would I agree that I live for the beach, but I have never experienced one quite like this. La Playa de Montgat was just a few train stops outside of the city center. We crossed under the train tracks which parallel the coastline and the tunnel opened up to pure bliss. Only two girls visible in miles of sand. It was truly a breathtaking moment.

Beaching aside, it was the perfect opportunity to break out my favorite one piece -- the Anne Marie by Solid + Striped. The perfect shape and scoop back have that nineties Baywatch feel but with a certain sex appeal. Shop the links above to check out some of my other favorite colors and patterns in a perfect one piece and don't forget to add this beach to your list when traveling to Barça.

Edith A Miller Top & Shorts (similar) / Miista Booties / Mansur Gavriel Bag

One of the "go-to" spots while visiting Barcelona is La Boqueria (the market). The main market in town is chock-full of fresh produce, meats, cheeses, you name it!  I decided to play up the beautiful display of fresh colors by sporting a red and white look. I'm not usually big on color but red is a favorite pop and fun shade to throw into the mix when traveling somewhere sunny. I was head over heels obsessed with each piece in this look. The super-soft, ribbed, knit top and bottom by a brand that knows a good stripe, the perfect bucket bag, and a fun red bootie all combine for a comfy but festive look. Perfect for traveling in warmer weather I'd say :) Definitely add this market to your list (even if only for the photo ops) BUT do not bring a bag. It's pick-pocket city. The first of many tips and tricks to come on my posts of Barça. Enjoy!

Heidi Merrick Dress

In lieu of the fact that everyone has been traveling in search of warmer weather, I only found it fitting to take a little flashback to #AVVeurotrip and my time in the beautiful Barcelona. The city was so majestic and a perfect final stop on my trip. We visited some truly amazing locations and naturally took advantage of the Kodak moments. This layered maxi dress by Heidi Merrick was the perfect piece with that Spanish flair I was looking for. Light, gauzy cotton and bare feet. My kind of heaven. Shop the link above and stay tuned for more Spanish love.

A Few Favorite Shops

Tom Dixon.jpg ABC Carpet & Home.jpg 9th St. Haberdashery.jpg Concrete + Water.jpg Electric Nest.jpg

Maybe it's because the holidays are just around the corner or because I've been discovering some amazing new shops lately, but I wanted to share some of my favorites stores in New York that not only have amazing products but an equally amazing space to hold them. Check out my deets below :)

Tom Dixon: New to Manhattan, this cult British brand has nestled itself just perfectly into the NYC retail world and with some differentiation to boot. The moment you walk into the store you feel like you might like an espresso, a coffee table book, and your most sophisticated friend to gab endlessly with. The space is chic and modern yet still inviting, perfectly complimenting its products that are full of innovation and attention to detail. Be prepared to be inspired to fully redecorate your apartment around Tom Dixon's new store & products at 243 Centre Street.

ABC Carpet & Home: I still remember the first time I entered this store and it has been a essential stop for anyone I give a tour to. ABC Carpet & Home is seven stories of some of the most amazing home pieces. But it's so much more... It's its own world. Full of whimsical aromas, beautiful fabrics and carpets, an even an amazing restaurant inside, it's almost like being transported to another country. Also, keep an eye out for celebs as I ran into Blake Lively while showing my mom around! Block out at least an hour to explore at 888 Broadway.

9th St. Haberdashery: A new find on my vintage list, this store holds carefully curated vintage pieces with everything from delicate lace dresses to embroidered silk jackets, even perfect denim and essential worn in tees. The shop has a feeling like you're in your most fabulous grandmother's closet (minus the cobwebs), bright and charming. Owners Stacey and Meridith have some amazing experience in the vintage industry and will find you pieces that are quintessentially you while setting you apart from the rest.  Visit them at 346 E. 9th St.

Concrete + Water: Next stop, Brooklyn. C+W has a special place in my heart as it was started by my a close friend and fashion aficionado, Hannah Dilworth, along with fiancé DJ Guckstern. Centered in the heart of Williamsburg, the space is clean and open, artfully displaying unique brands and products not often found in the city. As you walk to the back, you'll discover an amazing backyard that's home to designer trunk shows, parties, and concerts, nonetheless inviting you to stay a while. Just off the L, check them out at 475 Driggs Avenue, Brooklyn.

Electric Nest: It's not often you find a modern designer so attune with design and what women want to wear. Leana Zuniga designs pieces that aim to transition from day to night and even between seasons. She uses unique fabrics and innovative silhouettes that sets the brand apart from the rest. And the space Electric Nest compliments the brand it holds just perfectly. The warm and welcoming space encourages you to explore the designs' and space's intricate details. Make the trip to 60 Broadway, Brooklyn and you won't be disappointed.

#AVVeurotrip Travel Essentials

a vintage vice - travel essentials - 3.jpg

These were seriously all essentials I had during my travels on #avveurotrip! Keeping in real for ya :) Enjoy!

  • Christopher Kon Tote - This bag was my saving grace on #avveurotrip. Naturally, I carried it on the plane as my "purse" and it fit everything perfectly. Not to mention the stone color, simple design, and raw inside were checking off all the boxes on the list!
  • Fujifilm Instax Mini Classic - Nothing more amazingly-vintage-feeling than a "polaroid". Having that shot instantaneously in a tiny little print with an automatic filter... need I say more?
  • VOSS water - Chicest little water bottle and reused for the majority of the trip!
  • Moleskin Planner - My true love since age 6: the planner. Even though putting events in my phone is easy, I like to keep it old school. And in true Type A form, I love making lists and writing it all down.
  • Dove DrySpray - A serious goodbye to deo marks on your clothes. You know what I mean-- so many of those "invisible sticks" are anything but. The new dry spray it light, dries almost instantly, and NO MARKS.
  • SmartWool Socks - The bit of granola in me will never get rid of my SmartWools-- a necessity on planes with temps below freezing.
  • R+Co Death Valley Dry Shampoo- I have a naturally dry scalp, but no girl should be caught without dry shampoo in her cabinet (or suitcase)! The ultimate time saver when you sleep past the alarm or need some last minute volume before an event!
  • Tide To Go - Excuse my french, but this shit really works! Middle of the day with multiple appointments left, a coffee incident ensued and TTG rose to the occasion.
  • Nars Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl - There's something incredibly sexy about a red lip. Not to mention it can take a completely naked face from 0 to 60 in an instant.
  • Malin + Goetz Mojito Lip Balm - my new cult lip balm & mojito's in the title... enough said.
  • Caudalie Divine Oil - Shiny hair, dewey face, glowing skin? It can do it all.
  • Orbit Gum - Sweetmint. Anyone who knows me knows I'm addicted.
  • Flight 001 Adapter - Amazingly compact 4 in 1 adapter that works for virtually every country you might travel to! So necessary for my 4 country trip!

Jill Stuart Dress / Rodebjer Fur / Jeffrey Campbell Booties (similar) / Clare V. Clutch / Bite Lipcolor

Paris Fashion Week was an experience unlike any other. Some of the most beautiful presentations I attended in courtyards with harpists, on rooftops at sunset, and always included champagne. It was so fun exploring different looks based on what I was going to! The outfit above was one of my favorites from the week! I wore this to the John Galliano show at Palais de Tokyo. A little girly for my usual taste, I ran with it when I had the opportunity to wear a dress and a fur in the city of love. When in Paris, right? This adorable mod-style dress paired with a fur scarf had a fun 60s Parisienne vibe. I wrapped up the look with these amazing Austin Powers inspired booties, perforated clutch, top knot (duh), and red lip. Shop the links above and keep scrolling for some other Paris favorites!

Paris. It was an instant love affair. While I have been to Paris a few times before, I have never been for this long and actually just lived. Instead of trying to make it to every attraction, I just enjoyed the city. I walked a ton, stopped at street cafes for a midday espresso and people watching, stared endlessly at the gorgeous architecture and ivory tones of the buildings. My diet consisted mainly of espresso, wine, bread, and brie. No joke. Not to mention, I was there during Paris Fashion Week and got to attend some absolutely breathtaking presentations and shows. I've now worked this lovely city into my 10 year plan (hopefully)... need to learn French first! It was such a lovely combo of work and pleasure in the city of lights where I really did "do as a Parisienne does". Here are some of my favorites from the trip and stay tuned for my look from the John Galliano show :)

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed Amsterdam. It is SUCH A CUTE CITY and pretty romantic actually! I found myself missing my beau during my time there. The old school architecture, flowers everywhere, biking, canals, there was a certain charm about it all. If you're visiting soon, my top three picks include renting a paddleboat, vintage shopping, and visiting the Anne Frank House. All of my favorites are below but these three are musts!

MUSTS:

  • Wander & enjoy, because it's the cutest city
  • Paddleboat (or "canal boat") rental & bring a picnic from Stach

TOURISTY BUT NECESSARY:

  • Anne Frank House
  • Rijks Museum
  • IAmsterdam Sign -- I found this website to be super helpful too :)

VINTAGE SHOPPING

  • Bij Ons Vintage
  • Episode
  • Laura Dols
  • I Love Vintage
  • Wini
  • 1953 Retro En Chic

DRINKING & EATING

  • Necessary purchase anywhere (even the supermarket) -- A Stroopwafel
  • A damn good margarita -- Snappers
  • Soup & Toasties -- Ivy & Bros
  • Breakfast -- Omelegg
  • Coffee Shops if you're into it ;)

First stop on my #avveurope trip, London! As I mentioned in my last post, London was one of the first cities to really inspire me to explore personal style. There's something about London. The way people dress. Everyone is chic or cool or both. They wear whatever the hell they want and don't really care what anyone else thinks. It's amazing. All the women have perfect black boots, all the men have perfect slim suit, and drinking is acceptable at virtually any hour. If it weren't for the weather, London would definitely be on my list for a future home city!

Another theme on my trip across Europe was to "do as the locals do". More just enjoying the city instead of trying to get to every tourist attraction. It was refreshing just to wander, explore, and be in the moment! Below are some of my favorite vintage, shopping, eating and drinking spots in London! Enjoy :)
