After collaborating with the lovely ladies of Diesel Black Gold for my beachy denim shoot, I was thrilled to be able to experience the new collection in person at their Spring/Summer 2016 presentation. Located in an amazingly raw and deconstructed building in the heart of the Financial District, it set the perfect backdrop for a runway full of leather, patchwork, and badass vibes. The collection was said to be inspired by a woman wearing a man’s shirt as a dress… sign me up! Tomboy vibes with an edge of sex appeal. Deep side parts, slicked hair, smokey eyes, and strong walks, the models were the cherry on top of that rocker chic sundae. I included some shots of my look before the show, inside the venue, and a link below to a great video compilation of the catwalk. Enjoy!

Summer Daze

It's never "too late" to buy a swimsuit. Be an optimist. People are saying "summer is over" but I beg to differ. Who knows, maybe you'll be hitting a tropical island in October and visiting the Aussies in December. Cue Triangl swim. I fell in love with their use of neoprene and diverse colors and shapes. I opted for this bohemian inspired suit in this muted orange color I've been finding myself drawn to lately! Paired with layered delicate jewelry and beach waves, you have a look that works no matter if you're at the beach in Brooklyn or headed to the South of Spain. 'Got the Blues for You

When I had the opportunity to collab with Diesel Black Gold, it was the perfect match. Their downtown cool feel is one of my favorite vibes and a great contrast to this little beach on the edge of Williamsburg. Sand between your toes, wind in your hair, and one of the chicest and sexiest looks, baggy jeans and a black tee. There’s something incredibly raw and organic—no muss, no fuss. I love how these boyfriend jeans have such an ease and comfort about them. I wore them here barefoot on the beach and then later that night gave them a quick tuck, switched into a slinky tank and chunky mules for an evening oout. Linen Diaries

Finishing off the week's white with black theme with one of my favorite materials—linen. The light and gauzy feel of linen is perfect for summer and works well even into early fall.  I am in love with these linen trousers from ATM. Not originally made to be a puddle, I got mine a bit too big (per usual) and slung them low to make an epic puddle at the bottom. You get just a peek of these sky-high stilettos too that make it a great look for day or night. Paired with my favorite tunic, black bralette, and structured bucket bag, you have a look that’s equal parts easy, chic, and sexy.

Overall Details

Continuing with this week's "white with black" theme, I decided to break out these amazing button front overalls from Zara. The great shape (dropcrotch anyone?) and little details set these overalls apart from the rest. Keeping things chic, I added my favorite vintage camisole for some clean contrast. This look would be great with a mule or a strappy sandal but I decided to mix things up by adding these sporty slides by Adidas. White with Black

Target Buttondown and Boyfriend Shorts / Urban Outfitters Sandals (similar) / Gorjana Necklaces and Ring via Rocksbox

I’ve deemed this week’s outfit theme "white with black". Two of the most essential colors in anyone’s wardrobe, I love pairing them together.  In lieu of summer, I found it most fitting to highlight my favorite go-to look, all white, but highlighted with black accents . You’ll be shocked to hear that this crisp buttondown and boyfriend “bermuda” shorts are from the (dare I say it) clearance section at Target. Talk about #winning ! To keep the look from going too tomboy, I fastened only a few buttons on the shirt, revealing some dainty layering necklaces, and finished the outfit with a chunky, lace-up sandal. Your IT Accessory for Fall

I've been inspired by the rugged, Americana vibes that are sweeping the fall season with revival of the bandana. My most vivid memories of a bandana are of my dad doing projects all around the house and wearing them on his head to keep the sweat out of his eyes. There's a much less literal use for them these days but also so many different ways to wear them! A favorite and classic of course is around the neck. Another option is tied around a belt loop, stuck in your back pocket like a true cowboy, or twisted and head-wrapped like Rosie the Riveter. It's a great styling piece that adds that little something to even the simplest outfit. Striped button down, mom jeans, classic white sneaks, and a dose of cool added with the bandana. Bermuda Baby

I'm thinking it's some sort of combination of loving vintage, watching too many Friends episodes, and living in the lower east side that has me so drawn to 90s minimalism. I find myself constantly having a Monica or Rachel moment if you will ;) So when I found these BERMUDA shorts at my favorite vintage section at Pat Fields I just had to have them! Probably more epic than any of my mom jeans, these jean shorts take the 90s level up about a hundred notches. Bermudas have made a small comeback but I've never quite seen any pair like these. The complete mom fit, right above the knee length, and wash black color. PERFECTION.

Probably a scary feat to the normal shopper, I'm here to show you that bermudas CAN be done in a chic way. #1-- keep it minimal. I wore solely black and white with simple materials and shapes.  #2-- it's all about the shoe. Platform anything or sky high heels take the short to trendier/sexier place. Sun Therapy

Most people have no clue that New York has beaches! And I don't know what I'd do without them! I grew up driving to NY every summer for a family reunion of sorts, and it always involved beaching and boating! Since age 6, the waters of Long Island have transformed from a playground to a place of tranquility. Now working in the city (and in the fashion industry no less), heading to my aunt's little house on the canal is truly my therapy. It's the perfect place to unwind and relax in the summer. You'll often find me there for an entire weekend, no makeup, tangled hair, swimsuit 24/7. There's something so carefree and easy about it all. PJ Equation

Vuitton brought the PJ trend in 2013 with flying colors. While the trend has ebbed and flowed, I’m all about keeping it around. Not to mention the comfort factor but the silky materials drape amazingly against the body. While I would love to wear a full, slinky PJ set, I decided to add a bit of an update by keeping the shirt open for more of a “topper” feel contrasted against the tight croptop. Oversized puddle pants slung low on the hips keep the look current and sexy. Finish it off with tousled hair and natural but smoky makeup. Shop the links above to find your perfect PJ look.

Pin Up

Tori Praver Kalinda Top and High Waisted Bottoms (or here) / Vintage Clubmasters

Continuing with the lace up theme, I only found it fitting to follow my favorite bodysuit with my favorite bikini of the summer. Highwaisted and classic black, this suit has a bit of a retro, pinup feel to it. But once you look into the details, you see where she takes the suit from the 50s and makes its modern. The ribbed detailing of the material, the lace ups on the sides, and the slightly cheeky back add just the right amount of detail to make it a statement while still staying timeless.

Similar to rompers, the maxi dress can be the perfect all-in-one, go-to outfit. So many silhouettes to choose from, you can make a maxi dress fit for just about any occasion. This dress from Aritzia has the perfect "The Row" vibe at a fraction of the cost. Silky smooth material and oversized shape allows it to hang just perfectly on its own or makes it easy for belting. I paired mine with an unexpected, patent oxford to give it a quirky, fun, and at the same time, minimal look. What's your favorite maxi?

There's something so simple but amazingly chic about pairing black and denim. Maybe because they were some the first classics for your wardrobe, and despite the evolution of fashion, they have stood the test of time. The cuts, patterns, and silhouettes have changed thru the decades but each variation holds true in your closet.

I know you're shocked, but I often find my black and denim to have a bit of a 90s vibe to them. Absolutely fell in love with these vintage embroidered Levi's and vintage black camisole. Small details but overall simplicity lend these pieces to be great no matter what you pair them with. I added a lace up sandal to complete the look. The Wardrobe Essential You Never Thought About

In true 90s baby form, I’m reviving the bike short. Virtually the greatest invention ever (and the latest wardrobe essential you never thought about), the bike short allows you to wear the shortest skirts/dresses and still live your life. AKA sitting in completely weird positions in my chair at work and also avoiding the creeps while walking up the subway staircase. But seriously. Today, I paired my bike shorts with this adorable denim dress by One Teaspoon. This easy summer dress is the perfect blank slate to take the look wherever you want it to go.
