Whistles Sweaterdress / Stan Smith Sneaker / Nicholas Keith Watch / Verve Rings

Every season I find myself gravitating towards one thing or another. For this fall/winter, it's the sweaterdress. The word itself conjures up memories of appalling chunky things from the early 2000s. The good news is that it has evolved into a much chicer shape. Midi length, straight silhouette and lighter fabrics lend to it be a perfect piece that can live on its own in the fall and layer beautifully in the winter. Since I've been on my minimal kick as of late, I styled mine with a simple white sneaker, leather watch, and layering rings. Shop the links to get the look!

A Few Favorite Shops

Tom Dixon.jpg ABC Carpet & Home.jpg 9th St. Haberdashery.jpg Concrete + Water.jpg Electric Nest.jpg

Maybe it's because the holidays are just around the corner or because I've been discovering some amazing new shops lately, but I wanted to share some of my favorites stores in New York that not only have amazing products but an equally amazing space to hold them. Check out my deets below :)

Tom Dixon: New to Manhattan, this cult British brand has nestled itself just perfectly into the NYC retail world and with some differentiation to boot. The moment you walk into the store you feel like you might like an espresso, a coffee table book, and your most sophisticated friend to gab endlessly with. The space is chic and modern yet still inviting, perfectly complimenting its products that are full of innovation and attention to detail. Be prepared to be inspired to fully redecorate your apartment around Tom Dixon's new store & products at 243 Centre Street.

ABC Carpet & Home: I still remember the first time I entered this store and it has been a essential stop for anyone I give a tour to. ABC Carpet & Home is seven stories of some of the most amazing home pieces. But it's so much more... It's its own world. Full of whimsical aromas, beautiful fabrics and carpets, an even an amazing restaurant inside, it's almost like being transported to another country. Also, keep an eye out for celebs as I ran into Blake Lively while showing my mom around! Block out at least an hour to explore at 888 Broadway.

9th St. Haberdashery: A new find on my vintage list, this store holds carefully curated vintage pieces with everything from delicate lace dresses to embroidered silk jackets, even perfect denim and essential worn in tees. The shop has a feeling like you're in your most fabulous grandmother's closet (minus the cobwebs), bright and charming. Owners Stacey and Meridith have some amazing experience in the vintage industry and will find you pieces that are quintessentially you while setting you apart from the rest.  Visit them at 346 E. 9th St.

Concrete + Water: Next stop, Brooklyn. C+W has a special place in my heart as it was started by my a close friend and fashion aficionado, Hannah Dilworth, along with fiancé DJ Guckstern. Centered in the heart of Williamsburg, the space is clean and open, artfully displaying unique brands and products not often found in the city. As you walk to the back, you'll discover an amazing backyard that's home to designer trunk shows, parties, and concerts, nonetheless inviting you to stay a while. Just off the L, check them out at 475 Driggs Avenue, Brooklyn.

Electric Nest: It's not often you find a modern designer so attune with design and what women want to wear. Leana Zuniga designs pieces that aim to transition from day to night and even between seasons. She uses unique fabrics and innovative silhouettes that sets the brand apart from the rest. And the space Electric Nest compliments the brand it holds just perfectly. The warm and welcoming space encourages you to explore the designs' and space's intricate details. Make the trip to 60 Broadway, Brooklyn and you won't be disappointed.

Jill Stuart Dress (similar) / Whistles Coat / Raye Pumps / Verve Layering Rings

A touch of femininity managed to escape my typical tomboy style for this easy (somewhat 70s) inspired look. Whether it's the 70s or the 90s, I'm a sucker for velvet. This dress from Jill stuart throws back with crushed cranberry velvet, bell sleeves, and amazing cutout detail. Paired with a teddy jacket, bright suede pump, and mustard bag, the outfit get's a bit of a modern twist with just a taste of 70s flare.

Design History Sweater / Vince Turtleneck / Ribbed Flares / Matt Bernson Flats / Nicholas Keith Watch/ Verve Rings

Nothing better to welcome in fall than a good dose of knitwear. And I'm not just talking sweaters. Knitwear has evolved to encompass more than just your typical turtleneck and layering is a must. I layered this amazing Design History sleeveless sweater over a basic turtleneck. You add some depth to the look but still maintain clean lines. The longer length of the vest makes it a beautiful pairing for these ribbed flares. They might as well be PJs-- they're so comfy! A textured white flat, classic leather watch and layering rings top things off for a minimal but cool outfit. Shop the links above to get a much needed knitwear update!

Maison Scotch Blouse / DL1961 Jeans / Marc by Marc Kitten Heels

A great top + tight-ass skinny jeans + pointy black shoes. Whether it's dinner, date, night out, or casual interview, this simple outfit combination has proven to be foolproof for me. A great top: that could be a classic button down, silky blouse, or something in between like I wore here. You should have a few in your closet that you always fall back on. I loved the color on my top, the silky texture, and beading detail at the collar.  Tight-ass skinny jeans: preferably jet black or a little faded like I did here, the higher the waist and skinnier the ankle the better. This bottom option is ultimately flattering for multiple silhouettes. Pointy black shoes: a pump or flat, the point lengthens the leg and keeping the shoe black keeps a seamless line from hip to toe. The three combined give you a look that simple, easy, and overall chic. Shop the links above to get the look!

L'agence Top / Rodebjer Pant / Schutz Mules / Christopher Kon Bag / Verve Choker and Rings

Another one of my favorite looks from Paris fashion week, I had so much fun putting this outfit together! Each piece has its own unique characteristics that sets it apart but cohesively work together as an elevated look. This easy silk blouse (in my favorite color for fall) has some beautiful pleat detailing. The pants... zippers. Need I say more? These amazing mules play into the color of the top and have some intricate strapping and snakeskin detailing. The unique woven texture of the bag, the chain detail on the choker, and the slight wave in the layering rings continue the shape and texture play. At a closer look, you see what makes each piece that much more special and what ultimately links them all together for a great looking outfit.

Jill Stuart Dress / Rodebjer Fur / Jeffrey Campbell Booties (similar) / Clare V. Clutch / Bite Lipcolor

Paris Fashion Week was an experience unlike any other. Some of the most beautiful presentations I attended in courtyards with harpists, on rooftops at sunset, and always included champagne. It was so fun exploring different looks based on what I was going to! The outfit above was one of my favorites from the week! I wore this to the John Galliano show at Palais de Tokyo. A little girly for my usual taste, I ran with it when I had the opportunity to wear a dress and a fur in the city of love. When in Paris, right? This adorable mod-style dress paired with a fur scarf had a fun 60s Parisienne vibe. I wrapped up the look with these amazing Austin Powers inspired booties, perforated clutch, top knot (duh), and red lip. Shop the links above and keep scrolling for some other Paris favorites!

AYR Blazer & Pant / Forever 21 Blouse / Miista Shoes

I recently did a closet sweep and realized I was missing two key items any reasonable "fashionista" should own: a suit and a statement bootie.

SUIT -- The suit has been around for ages. I mean those 80s shoulder pads and ill fits of the 90s? Needless to say, the suit silhouette has been through the ringer over the past 50 years. Thank GOD as of late, it has made a revival in a slim, minimal, sexy style. Insert this AYR pairing I found in an unexpected navy with a bit of sheen. I could rock this suit with a tee and Cons, a camisole and pointy pumps, or like I did here, with a tie neck blouse and fun booties. My two main points to preach when finding your perfect suit? QUALITY AND FIT. There is nothing worse than an ill-fitting suit. Period. And like I said, suits have been and will be around, so this is not an area to "skimp". Buy a quality suit, in quality material, in a timeless silhouette. It will last you a lifetime.

Statement Bootie -- I fell in love with these embossed booties from Miista that have detailing all the way down to the heel. Red is my go-to for any pop of color in an accessory but I've never scored anything quite as unique as these. They add the perfect contrast to the suit here and are a closet staple to amp up any minimal or normcore look . Shop the links above to add these two essentials to your wardrobe.

Coach Bag, Watch, and Keychain / Rodebjer Sweater / Forever 21 Midi Dress / Alexander Wang Booties

The winds have changed and fall is here in full force. With that change comes two of my favorite parts of the season: the colors and the layering. For the latter, I threw this fun & furry chunky sweater over my essential tshirt dress. The monochrome palette contrasted with diverse textures creates an outfit base that's cozy and chic. While I might typically top off this look to be completely black and navy, I decided to bring in my favorite fall colors with the help of Coach accessories! The mustard bag + gold watch pair perfectly together as classics with a twist and add a great pop of color to the look. Both tones are huge for fall and lend themselves to that 70s feel that I've always been strong supporter of. Shop the links above to get each piece and happy fall!

VEDA Leather Jacket / Maison Scotch Button Down / FRAME Boyfriend Jeans / Hudson Boots / Awoke Vintage Layering Rings

Feeling inspired while visiting London (one of the first cities that sparked an exploration into my personal style), I harnessed my inner tomboy with flecks of British rock and roll to create this look. Classic striped buttondown loosely tucked into supersoft and baggy boyfriend jeans start an outfit that's effortless and comfy. A bit of sex and rock&roll is added in with a leather moto jacket, snakeskin boots, and peek of black bralette. The combination gives you that “cool London girl look” that can take you from a day shopping on Oxford Street to an epic evening at Sketch. Shop the links above and stay tuned for more of my favorites from London and my other #avveurotrip cities :)

Awoke Vintage Vest / Mason Skirt / Zara Booties / Snash Bar Ring / Slate Ring

We all know I love a mix of materials and shapes and this outfit is case in point. Rigid, white, denim vest contrasted with a slinky, asymmetrical, silk skirt creates a look that is clean but keeps the eye moving. I paired the look with a patent and lucite bootie and strong gold jewelry to continue the theme of contrasting materials. All in all, you have look that's chic and bit minimalistic.

Frame Polo / AMO Denim / Matt Bernson Mule / Pamela Love Earrings / Snash Ring / Slate Ring

As we transition into fall, I want to highlight 3 things that are vital for my wardrobe: a jean update, a polo revival, and mules you can actually walk in! First, the jeans. This amazing pair from AMO checks all the boxes on my list for a jean update-- high waisted, cropped, mini flare, raw hem. Can it get any better? The slight fading on the thigh also slims and lengthens the leg so I'm all in! Next, the polo. This isn't a "fratstar" situation... Hopefully we've left those days behind us! This polo by Frame has a some unique detailing with the deep v which adds a bit of femininity and is super soft, too! Last up, the mule. I am OBSESSED with these flat mules by Matt Bernson. I wore them during a lot of my "eurotrip" and I just love how unique, cool, and comfy they are. Shop these favorite pieces for your transitional wardrobe via the links above :)

Awoke Vintage Top and Tennis Skirt / Vintage Scarf / Grenson Shoes / Lauren Merkin Clutch / Slate Rings via Rocksbox

Equal parts vintage equal parts Écolière Parisienne (Parisienne schoolgirl). I was so excited to collaborate with Awoke Vintage for this NYFW outfit! These pieces were in pristine condition and perfectly achieved "the chic, tennis-playing schoolgirl" look. (Minus the pigtails please!) I paired the combo with the quintessential platform tassel loafer in a delicious caramel color and fun animal print bag for contrast. I topped it all off with a silk scarf and red lip for added Parisienne flair. Links above for a happy vintage shopping, tennis playing, schoolgirl learning look ;)

Adidas Tee / True Royal Pants / Rodebjer Sneakers / Slate Rings via Rocksbock

We all know I love to mix a little uptown with a little downtown. So when I spotted these gold pants, I instantly thought of my adidas tee. It adds a nice contrast to dress down the pants and these amazing sneakers add just the perfect bit of fun to it all. This was one of my favorite streestyle looks from NY fashion week and I hope you enjoy it too! Shop the links to get the look!

Alice McCall Dress / Stan Smith Custom Sneakers / Matt Bernson Bag  / Pamela Love Rings / Slate Rings via Rocksbox

I’m not even sure where to start with this look other than I’m completely and utterly obsessed with this dress. It’s white first of all, so let’s knock that off the list. And the lace detailing? DIVINE. I decided to tame down the femininity a bit by adding clean, white sneakers and my favorite structural crossbody. I topped things off with some boho-rocker-chic rings and achieved a look that’s feminine, cool, and chic all at the same time. Shop the links above to get the look :)
