The Mode Collective Sandal / Zara Tank / Leather Skirt (here or here) / Gorjana Necklace and Wanderlust & Co Ring via Rocksbox / Outlette Arrow Necklace and Rings

If there's one staple shoe (besides a black pump) that you need in your closet, it's a nude sandal. It goes with just about anything in your wardrobe and added benefit: it lengthens the leg! And who doesn't want longer legs?! This pair is by my favorite brand this week: The Mode Collective.A sky high heel and slim straps give it a perfect "barely there" look. I paired this shoe with an all neutral look, one of my favorites for the approaching summer season. Clean, chic, and elevated, this look will take you from work to afterhours in a snap.

Living Doll Top / Ellison Jacket or here / Zara Shorts / Stuart Weitzman Boots / Francescas Bag or here / Gorjana Necklace / Jules Smith Choker / Handmade Ring

Like I spoke to in my last post, I've been challenging myself to create outfits starting with one key piece. Today's was this clean and simple buttondown by Living Doll LA. I typically would reach for my black highwaisted skinnies to pair it with, but I decided to switch things up and grabbed my leather shorts. Added my new favorite OTK boots, a little fur, chains, and metal details, and it was a done deal! Shop it out above to get a bit of downtown chic.

The Workwear Equation

Zara Top (similar)/ Vintage Skirt (similar)/ Falke Socks / Zara Heels / Vintage Rings

There's nothing that stumps you more than putting together a look for work that isn't boring or expected, right? The key for me is clean lines with a bit of detail. This black long sleeve top and white pencil skirt seem pretty basic but if you look closely there are some nice details that elevate the outfit. A bit of fray at the neckline and burnout in the top and the paperbag waist and midi length of the skirt add some of that unexpected. Finally for a bit of surprise (and one of my personal favorites): socks with pumps. The classic Mary Jane style and pale pink color contrast nicely against the black sock and bring the outfit full circle. Check out the links above to shop my look!

NYFW: Cut It Out

a-vintage-vice-emma-sousa07.jpg

Anzevino and Florence Top / Zara Pants / Vintage Chanel Pumps / Vintage Bag

The word "cutout" can sound scary at first. But good news, I managed to find a way to wear full-on cutouts and not look in the least bit skanky. An added bonus: my top and pants were a combined $35 #winning

These Zara pants have the most amazing detail. Completely crocheted with only a "shorts lining", the rest is open but you would never know! The placement of the cutout in the top is unexpectedly perfect, and I brought out the vintage Chanel pumps for added effect. I love how the whole outfit comes together without being overwhelming and still looking chic.

This was my day 4 outfit for New York Fashion Week. I can't wait to share the rest of them with you! For real time updates, don't forget to check out my Instagram (link on the side)!

90 Degrees

How to look decent, if even chic, when the temperature passes the 90 degree mark?? White. Always. And airy with soft denim denim shorts. A sandal with a mid-heel. A small bag, a top knot, and you're golden. No one wants to see your belly button ring or your "cheeks" for that matter, so let's keep it classy and comfy for the heated days ahead ;)

A Little French Tomboy

Shop The Similars: Vintage Mens Button Down / Forever 21 Denim Vest / Anthropologie Pants / Prabal Gurung for Target Heels / Forever 21 Cuff / Vintage, Handmade, and UO Rings

I'm not gonna lie... I originally got this button down at Goodwill to wear for Halloween dressed as the typical "Risky Business" character. But as it hung in my closet, I wanted to challenge myself to somehow incorporate it into my actual wardrobe. On the hanger, it looks like a sack of potatoes. But add a cool denim vest and you've made it a step closer to that casual, French, tomboy kinda feel. You can pair this shirt/vest combo more simply with a great pair of black skinnies. Or have a bit of fun with it and wear a patterned pant and colored heel, channeling your inner fashionista. No matter which way you wear it, you'll be the envy on the street. TGIF.

That Chic Minimalism

Black and White and Chic all over. This outfit is all about the updated classics. These are essential pieces you should have in your closet that will instantly "chic-up" any outfit. The white silk top, high-waisted black jeans, strappy heels, red lipstick, and a great pair of sunnies. Put them all together like I did or sprinkle them with other great pieces in your wardrobe. I love tucking my silk top into a short a-line skirt or pairing any of my crop tops with these high-waist black jeans. Strappy heels are great heels for a night out but you can also work them for day with boyfriend jeans and a tee. Click above to find out some of my favorites!

Feeling French

a-vintage-vice-emma-sousa-french01.jpg

[gallery type="rectangular" ids="680,681,682,683,684,685,686,687,688,689,690,691,692,693,694"]

Vintage Sweater (similar) / Zara Shorts (similar) / Sam Edelman Booties / Vintage Dooney & Bourke Bag (similar) / Fossil Watch / Vintage & UO rings and bracelets / Nars Lipstick

There was something about this outfit that felt very "quirky french girl" to me... The blouson shoulders, the lady-like bag, the red lip. And it seems that black leather shorts are always chic and that the ever essential slight tuck of the top brings an effortless feel to it all. But the whimsy and fashion vibe that this outfit creates doesn't have to break the bank. Top: $7, shorts: $49, bag: hand-me-down, shoes: $100. Shoes are typically where I splurge, but I cannot emphasize enough-- Goodwill and other thrift stores can become your BFF for bargains.
