Vintage Nike Track Jacket (similar) / American Apparel Crop Top and Denim Skirt / Converse / Vintage Jewelry

Finally did it - made the gif! During this shoot, I had the urge to "run down the runway" Alexander Wang style. The moving photos turned out pretty cool, and I felt like I was in one of those Target ads. Animation aside, this outfit is just another example of why you should never get rid of items that are currently not in style. I bought this vintage Nike track jacket about 10 years ago and what do you know it's 2014 and they're so hot right now. Other than the fact that the colors are brilliant, I love how I can wear this jacket with virtually anything! It elevates even the simplest jeans and tshirt and cools up a girly skirt and crop top like above. I would obviously suggest searching for vintage but there are some great modern track/baseball jackets all over and at all price points, too!

Jumpsuits never get old for me, especially those with a slightly 70s vibe. They're so easy, comfy, and can instantly make a statement. I loved this graphic, black and white that is so "in" for spring. Paired with sky high wedges, jumpsuits can give even the shortest girl the illusion of length! Total credit goes to my mom on this one as the jumpsuit was part of my care package for Easter along with the essential Peeps and Peanut M&Ms :) Enjoy the weekend and don't forget to follow me on Instagram @avintagevice !

Feeling French

Vintage Sweater (similar) / Zara Shorts (similar) / Sam Edelman Booties / Vintage Dooney & Bourke Bag (similar) / Fossil Watch / Vintage & UO rings and bracelets / Nars Lipstick

There was something about this outfit that felt very "quirky french girl" to me... The blouson shoulders, the lady-like bag, the red lip. And it seems that black leather shorts are always chic and that the ever essential slight tuck of the top brings an effortless feel to it all. But the whimsy and fashion vibe that this outfit creates doesn't have to break the bank. Top: $7, shorts: $49, bag: hand-me-down, shoes: $100. Shoes are typically where I splurge, but I cannot emphasize enough-- Goodwill and other thrift stores can become your BFF for bargains.

Race Day Reinvented

Race Day Reinvented
Race Day Reinvented by emmasousa
Lose the floppy hat and amp your style for the upcoming races. Channel your inner Gatsby with a more menswear vibe by pairing high-waisted trouser shorts and a cropped button down with oxford platforms. I love the "reinvented" feel of this outfit and how each take piece is a twist on a classic.

No shock here, there's a nod to 90s and the ever-wonderful Spice Girls, obsession of my childhood. My two favorites were Baby Spice (because we were both named Emma) and Sporty Spice (because she was BA, or whatever my 6 year-old self substituted for that word). Loving the mix of shapes in this outfit and fun color thrown into the black and white base look. I also got majority of the items on epic sales, including the checkered shirt at a garage sale for $1 #winning! Tried to find some good substitutes for you to click through-- hope you enjoy!

My "Go To" Spring Look

J.Crew Sweater (similar) / Vintage Levi Cutoffs (similar) / Zara Heels / Vintage Sunnies (similar)

This truly is my "go to" look for spring. I've been challenging myself to incorporate more color into my everyday. I got this J.Crew sweater last year, and while a similar cream one was calling my name, I decided to branch out with the red. It brings a great to pop to any outfit and looks great with your favorite denim cutoffs, yet another spring essential. A nude sandals goes with almost anything, and I love that this pair has a functional heel height and fun metallic flair. I would advise you click on each link above, because girl, you need these for spring.

Currently Obsessed: Bucket Bags

Currently Obsessed: Bucket Bags
Yves Saint Laurent vintage purse / MANSUR GAVRIEL leather purse / Niclaire leather tote / Isaac Mizrahi shoulder bag / French Connection handbag / Deena Ozzy black handbag / Mango faux leather bag / Red handbag / Old Navy cell phone purse
Lately, I have been OBSESSED with bucket bags. They are so easy/functional and come in all shapes and sizes. I thought it would be fun to create this collage so you could find the right bucket bag for your style AND your budget. While there are many style categories that could work for bucket bags, these are my top three genres that never let me down. Hope you enjoy!

Bringing a New Kids On the Block vibe to NYC. This outfit takes a trip back into the late 80s/early 90s with bright primary colors, graphic prints, and classic tennis shoes. While the look can air on the edge of a fashion flashback, I toned down a bit with cropped, dark skinny jeans and Supergas (aka: the new Keds). This is a great weekend outfit that makes a statement while also being casual and comfy! TGIF and enjoy the weekend!

Clueless

Zara... Sweater,  Skirt,  Shoes / Vintage Bag (similar) / Hammered Cuff (similar)/ Vintage Necklace & Rings / Bare Minerals Lipstick

"As if!" The moment this outfit came to me, I was transported into Alicia Silverstone's movie Clueless circa 1995. The 90s have returned, and I'm fully digging it. Crop tops, mary janes, and high pony tails totally add some fun into your wardrobe! Don't be afraid to show your crop with a peek a skin, but of course in a tasteful way. If your not quite ready for that step, try your crop top with a high-waisted bottom (my go-to). Speaking of go-to's, I love exploring estate sales for vintage accessories like the ones in this outfit! I got this purse for $3 at one along with a cool, old-school PBR mug for $1. You never know what you will find. Now that the weather is getting warmer there will be more and more of them, so get on out there!

All White Everything

Zara Top / Acne Jeans / Vintage Levis Jacket (similar) / See by Chloe Booties / Vintage + Urban Outfitters Bracelets and Rings

I feel like maybe this post should have background music, no? First, the title. Second, I was singing "Happy" by Pharrell during this entire shoot. You just can't help but dance when you hear it! Anyways to the point of the post! White outfits are chic and never go out of style. Even more so, white jeans are an essential in every girls closet. Whether skinny or high-waisted flares, they are a great item to include in your spring wardrobe. Pairing a white top and neutral shoes makes a tonal palette that instantly looks sleek, and for shortish girls like me, gives you a long and lean look. To mix it up a bit, add a blue denim jacket like mine that I snagged from Patricia Field for a whopping $40! Cue Pharrell and happy dancing.

Your Perfect Maxi Dress

Vintage and Modern Inspiration

[gallery type="rectangular" ids="432,431,433"]

I fell in love with these vintage and modern photos of maxi dresses that I found on Pinterest. Perhaps my "inner 70s love child" is breaking through, but there's something about these pictures that needed to be shared! While it's great to have a basic black maxi dress, I challenge you use these photos as inspiration to branch out. Look for different shapes, patterns, fabrics that strike your fancy. I am OBSESSED with the blue maxis above and still have it on my list to find one similar. The Chloe collection favors the photo above, but not everyone has that kind of money to burn (and I'm quite a bargain hunter). SOOO, I have provided some links below for you to explore and find your perfect maxi dress. Would love to hear/see your suggestions as well! Happy 70s vibes :)

Overalls: City Edition

Forever 21 Button Down / Blank Denim Overalls / Tibi Mules / Vintage and Urban Outfitters Rings

The onesie trend continues but in overall form. While overalls may bring back memories of sandboxes and Tonka trucks, you can style them in an updated fashion. I love to style mine with a crop top, striped tee, lace top, or button down like above. Pairing them with a fun heel or quirky sneaker elevates the outfit from turning too kiddy or farmhand. I'm not going to go on my usual rant about how anyone can wear them as they flatter more straight and boyish body types, but that doesn't mean you can't try them on!

Sail Away With Me

[gallery type="rectangular" ids="629,630,631,632,633,634,635,636,637,638,639,640,641"] Patricia Field Vintage Romper (similar) / Target Heels (similar)

There is nothing like finding that one-of-a-kind vintage piece. While maybe a bit kitschy, I absolutely fell in love with this sailor inspired romper from Patricia Field in the East Village. Lord knows I'm a sucker for rompers and jumpsuits alike. Give me ease, comfort, and statement in an all-in-one look. They come in all shapes and sizes, so you can play with which style works for your body type. Many say they could never "pull one off", but I beg to differ. Avoid anything skin tight-- no one wants to look like a Playboy bunny. Think either fluid and easy or structured and cinched at the waist (of course).

PS: Started breaking out some dance moves mid-shoot :) Hope you enjoy!

One Girly Tomboy

The tough but wonderful thing about boyfriend jeans is experimenting with how to to wear them. Skinny, slouchy, or distressed, you can find your favorite style and take them in whichever direction you like. For me, I love to add a heel for a bit of femininity and to juxtapose the tomboy air of the outfit. Here, I wore my comfiest tee and boyfriend jeans slung low with a statement necklace and some fun "pop art" heels. Instantly, the look turns from boring to brilliant.
