BumCake Vintage Shirt / Cosabella Bralette / Victoria’s Secret Boyshorts (similar)

During the winter, if I see the word thermal, that’s all I need to hear. So when I found these old-school boyish pair of undies in that perfect waffley material, it was a done deal. Highwaisted and comfy as hell, they’re my favorite lounging “short”. Second order of business: this epic, yellow button down from BumCake vintage. It makes me feel like a badass 80 year old man, sitting on a boardwalk, smoking a cigar. Think Ocean City, circa 1990. The combination of the two (with my Cosabella bralette I wear just about everyday) makes for another perfect Saturday lounge.

Vintage Leather Jacket (here or here) / Men's Mossimo Tee / Vintage Bandana Scarf / Loomstate Denim (similar) / See by Chloe Booties

If you've been with me from the beginning, you may recognize this gem of a jacket. I snagged it at the Brooklyn Flea (one of my favorites), and it has been one of my favorite statement jackets ever since. Last time, I showed you how to wear it transitioning to spring/summer, and now, fall/winter. Maybe it's due to my original Texas roots, but I love a good Western vibe (especially if it involves fringe). I decided to throw a bit of caution to the wind and go full on Western with my fringe jacket, bandana, and we're bringing backed the bootcut for a hot moment. If you're not ready to go full on, I would maybe lose the bandana and try and skinny jean for a more toned down look. Whichever way you choose to go, anything western or fringe is a good idea :)

American Apparel Tee / Victoria's Secret Hiphugger / H&M Socks (similar)

Saturday Series slowing turning into middle of the night Saturday Series #nightowl. Last week, I shared some of the comfiest sweatpants and now baseball tee and socks. This American Apparel shirt is one of the softest things I own. Perfect fit and a 10 on the comfy scale, I love wearing it around the house (pantless of course) or tucked into my favorite mom jeans and pointy boots during the day. Next, socks. Mens or vintage pairs are the biggest, comfiest, and coziest. I've also rocked this pair with the infamous Madewell sweatpants and hightop converse for an amazing 80s/90s vibe. Curl up in my look above with your favorite glass of Pinot or hit the streets in pieces that give you a cozy but cool look.

Vintage Nike Jacket / Eleven Paris Mickey Tee / BDG Jeans / Asos Boots

Sometimes you gotta mix up your norm a bit to keep things interesting. One of my go-to looks is skinnies with anything oversized on top, usually in a neutral palette. I had a bit of fun switching up and adding a mickey mouse tee (from the men's section... I know you're not shocked) and my favorite vintage track jacket. Same silhouette but with a twist, and by keeping the bottom half sleek and muted, the outfit doesn't become too childish or kitschy. Shop the links above to grab my go-to with a Mickey twist!

Bum Cake Vintage Tee (similar) / Madewell Sweats / Converse

I'd have to say sometimes my style can fluctuate between a 80 year old grandma and a 12 year old boy. This outfit: case in point. I fell in love with this "senior women" tee from Bum Cake Vintage. The playfulness of the graphics and the baseball feel of the tee... A bit grandma, a bit boy. Also, since I bought these sweats from Madewell (on an extra sale of course), I have been basically living in them. Paired together with my favorite Chucks, I have a comfy outfit that cozy enough for a Saturday in and cute enough to pop around town.

Gryphon Jacket (here or here) / JCrew Top (almost identical) / Zara Pants (almost identical) / Tibi Mules

The military trend always seems to stick around but morphs into different interpretations. We had little surges of the anorak and camo, and now, a more literal and structural military inspiration has come to the runways and the street. In clean lines and silhouettes with a touch of hardware, it's a fresh take on military, utility, and minimalism.

I snagged this jacket at a Gryphon sample sale and have been unable to find anything like it since! The "tails" if you will, straps on the cuff, and metals swept me off my feet. Paired with neutrals and sharper silhouettes, I completed this "new military" look. While I couldn't snag you my jacket, check out some others that are right up that alley above!

BDG Sweater / UO Socks / Paris vs. New York Book

Welcome to the first edition of my "Saturday Series". A fun look into my favorites for lazy days (and nights) around the house. I'm a sucker for most everything oversized. There's something more freeing and comfortable about things that aren't clinging to you. Most of my close friends can attest I hate wearing pants when I'm home, too. My old roommate's friends nicknamed me "no pants" for that very reason. I prefer large sweaters, or sweatshirts, and socks over anything else (insert monkey emoji covering eyes). Whether you're enjoying a glass of wine or reading up on Paris vs. New York, snuggle up with some of my favs, minus the pants of course ;)

Vintage London Fog Trench / Merona Cardi / Phillip Lim for Target Dress / Frye Boots

The trench. One of my favorites that has never gone out of style. Recently too with the rise of utility, the trench is back and bigger than ever. This London Fog was one of my top coats I found in the back of my grandmother's closet that wonderful day. Literally has tested time, both physically and in the style sense. The shape and length flatter and go with just about anything. I decided to pair mine with this Phillip Lim for Target dress that has his signature structural quality to it and my tried and true Frye knee high boots (another trend back around for fall/winter). Don't miss this closet staple (or full look) and shop the links above :)

On the top of my list for winter: cozy turtlenecks. I found this fuzzy perfection pictured at my favorite Patricia Field Vintage. It has a great shape that allows me to tuck it into my favorite skinny jeans for a classic look or I can keep it loose and boxy paired with mini.

I had so much fun shooting amongst these amazing leaves. The setting was perfect and I couldn't get enough of it. If you've never been in New York for the leaf-changing-amazingness, put it on your list!! The parks along the West side (where this was shot) and Central Park, of course, are money for the colors!

Vintage Coat (similar) / Consignment Top (similar) / J.Crew Jeans / 3.1 Phillip Lim Flats

If you've been with me from the beginning (or glanced at the "about" page), you know I have a knack for digging through family members' closet and finding some gems. This red coat happened to be one of the 6 pristine coats (circa 1950) that I found in the back of my grandmother's closet. In conjunction, vintage and consignment stores can often hold the best outerwear. Old people are not joking when they say, "They don't make 'em like they used to." The quality and construction allows coats to last for decades and get you through the worst winters. Pop into your mom or grandma's closet asap or around the corner for some good thrifting.

Whistles "skirtall" (here or here) / Zara Tee / Converse / Vintage Bag (here or here) / Vintage Scarf (here or here)

We all know I'm a sucker for overalls... So when I found this amazing Whistles number that combines overalls and a structural midi skirt, I was swept off my feet. My go-to styling piece for this "skirtall" is a neutral top. Whether it's a black tee or slim, grey turtleneck, it keeps it clean so you can play with the accessories. I mixed things up with a high top converse, pop of color in the bag, and silk scarf for a bit of kitsch. I managed to snag the last skirtall by Whistles (on an amazing sale, no less!) but found some amazing alternatives above. Check out the links and have a fabulous start to the week!

Candela Agnes Dress and Aaliyah Sweater / See by Chloe Booties (similar)

There's nothing I love more about fall than layering. I'll use the word juxtapose just about every day til I die but one of my favorite parts of layering is juxtaposing the textures. These pieces by Candela make the perfect example. By contrasting sheer lace and the chunkiest wool I could find, I created an unexpected look that keeps the eye guessing. Longer lengths and varied textures down to the few accessories result in a fresh take on that 70s boho. Grab your lace, your wool, your suede, and mix things up for your new fall wardrobe.

Overall Evolution

Vintage Sweater (another fav) / Zara Top / Blank NYC Overalls / Alexander Wang Booties / Jules Smith Choker

I love me some overalls. From early workwear to 70s hippie to 90s grunge, they've been around, each time with a bit of tweak in style. Today, combining different shapes, washes, and details have made their comeback that much better. This pair by Blank NYC is one of my favorites. I love to style them either very minimal with a button down or fitted tee, or like above, a bit more cozy, layered, and fall-inspired. No matter which way your look goes, overalls should be on the top of your fall essentials.

VEDA Padre Jacket / Honor Top / Main Bra / Harper Skirt / Grenson Loafer / Flynn Bag

We all know I love and good crop top and some leather. The problem for most is putting the two together while still leaving room for a little imagination. What I loved about VEDA's resort collection was how the pieces were structural yet sexy, how I was able to pair a bustier and all leather while still looking elevated. By mixing different lengths and proportions with a bit of skin and slits, I ended up with a fashion forward outfit that still felt cool and sexy.  Shop some of my pieces above and check out thisisveda.com for their Resort Collection coming soon!

NORMCORE

Candela Sweater / Vintage Tommy Hilfiger Jeans (similar) / Converse / Vintage and Handmade Rings

The CUT describes Normcore as embracing sameness deliberately as a new way of being cool, rather than striving for “difference” or “authenticity.” Stylized by mom jeans, white tees, turtlenecks, and Birkenstocks, the Normcore movement has taken the fashion industry by storm and I'm all in. With a bit of a nod to the 90s, it takes fashion back down to the basics: clean and simple, plain and comfy.

I rock Normcore on the reg and here's one way I like to wear it. I pair my mom jeans and Converse with this amazing turtleneck by Candela. The open-knit weave and cropped shape give it a bit of update while still keeping the simplistic feel. Shop the look above to achieve your new, Normcore self ;)
