Made famous in 1974 by none other than DVF, the wrap dress has become one of the most iconic items to grace the closets of women across the US. Every fabric, print, length, you name it, virtually every women owns one and they're deemed to be flattering on almost every figure. This was actually one of my first wrap dresses from one of my favorite brands, Just Female. I loved the stripes (one of my staple prints) and in red, white, and blue (some of the only colors I wear :)). Especially in the summer, being able to throw this dress on with a pair of simple sneakers and chic accessories creates a complete look in a pinch.

Though silk bombers have infiltrated the market, I still find each one to be unique, eye catching, and a great addition to you wardrobe. Pair it simply with mom jeans and a sneaker for a true "off duty" look, throw over your favorite sundress for something different, or mix it up with a unexpected streetstyle look like I did here. Silk on silk, I crossed this casual bomber with a thigh high slit skirt most would normally view as evening wear. In these past few months shirting has become a huge topic of conversation. After brands like Rosie Assoulin and Jacquemus reinvented "the shirt", each brand has been searching for how diversify the classic silhouette that has filled womens' closets for decades. Off the shoulder, added straps, asymmetrical, the list goes on. I loved the button down back on this Won Hundred shirt that allows me to add as much breathability (and sex appeal) as I like. Talk about business in the front, party in the back. I paired my oversized shirt with breezy stripe culottes, simple oxfords, and a pop of color clutch. redefined classics

AYR Tank and Pant / Elizabeth and James Backpack / Mules (on sale!)

Whether you're having a styling block or just need something simple on-the-go, reaching for those "redefined classics" will always steer you in the right fashion direction. One of my favorite brands for just that (and that also happens to be quality made without a hefty price-tag) is AYR. This NY favorite always delivers on clean denim and easy suiting, simple camisoles and comfy trousers. I am madly in love with their "shadow pant" (worn above) that has a drop crotch for added cool and fabric that looks refined but feels amazing. Another no-brainer styling piece is a leather backpack. With it's rise to fame, brands have developed various silhouettes and shapes to suit your fancy. I loved this Elizabeth and James one with a furry flap. Shop the links above <3

better late than never

Won Hundred Vest Dress (similar or here) / Platforms / Topshop Socks / Circle Earring

With some time off from work, I figured I owed you one too many blog posts. So better late than never, here are some gems from when it was warm in NY. To sunny days days ahead...

I love anything with an architectural quality to it and so I naturally fell quickly in love with this structured "vest-dress" by Scandinavian favorite, Won Hundred. The piece works as a dress, like I did here, or open and perhaps paired with a raw-edged straight leg jean and a thin turtleneck. I mixed up the accessorizing by adding a chunky plum platform and rose-colored socks. Like to keep the eye searching a bit, no? Finished with a geometric drop earring and structural backdrop, the look ironically rounds out just perfectly. Shop the links above and more to come :)

the Denim Apron

In lieu of Sunday's 75 degree weather, I only found it fitting for a quick flashback to my favorite piece from NYFW: the denim apron. Little did I know I needed it until discovered by design favorite, Sandy Liang. This was the perfect tent dress for a sweltering fashion week and works seamlessly into it's apron duties in the fall season with some simple layering techniques. I would layer a favorite tee, turtleneck or thin knit sweater on top and jean (duh) on the bottom or a knit pant for a real cozy outfit. Feminine Twist

Alice McCall Romper / Sigerson Morrison Booties

Occasionally, but just occasionally, I can tap into my feminine side. Though a tomboy at heart, there's certain frills and ruffles that always get me, like this romper from Alice McCall. Eyelet details and scalloped edges accent the blouson details of this onesie with perfect girlish flair. To juxtapose it all, I chose a western boot for its pairing. Saloon vibes anyone? Finished with a "mullet" hairdo (business in the front, party in the back), I completed a look that's feminine but with a twist. Links above to get the look!

Pop of Color

The bag: The Push Lock

Why I love it: I don’t wear a lot of color, but my favorite pop in an accessory is red. The Cambridge Satchel Pushlock in red is the perfect size and color for just about every look from day to night.

The outfit: Because this bag suits afternoon and evening looks, I decided to match an equally transitional outfit. Maybe because I’m a 90s kid, but the black slip dress is my go-to. It always works and never goes out of style.  I kept it very minimalistic by just pairing a strappy point toe shoe and finishing with the red pop in the bag. Head to toe you have a look that’s cool, chic, and works for bopping around the city day or night.

The location: Another one of my favorite NY areas: SoHo. The SPOT for shopping in NYC as it has everything from mainstream to boutique and spans a large portion of the downtown area. Cobblestone streets filled with coffee shops and one of a kind retailers, you can find me here most days of the week. When working and running errands, I like my look to be easy and light so a slip dress and small crossbody are the perfect combination for just that.

If I could sum this look up in three words I’d say: minimal, light, easy.

Tassel Talker

The bag: The Tassel Bag

Why I love it: I immediately fell in love with this bag because of it’s 70s influence with the saddle shape and tassel detail. #avintagevice Need I say more?

The outfit: Playing into that 70s vibe (my dad did wear a white tux on his wedding day) and adding a touch of Parisian influence, I decided to rock an all white suit. In easy lightweight cotton and linens, this suited look is one that is elevated but doesn’t leave me feeling stuffy. Stylist tip: By keeping the look neutral from head to toe, you elongate yourself (no matter how tall or short you really are) and let the tassels do the talking.

The location: We shot this look in my all time favorite neighborhood: the West Village. You haven’t been to New York until you’ve been to here. The ambience, the people, the stores, the cafes. My first summer interning in NY I spent 3 hours wandering in the WV with no map and it was maybe the best 3 hours of my life. And just about any outfit is perfect in the WV as long as it feels like you.

If I could sum this look up in three words I’d say: 70s, fresh, relaxed.

Picture Portrait Backpack

The bag: Small Portrait Backpack

Why I love it: There’s nothing chicer than a structured bag and I love how efficient a backpack can be in terms of size and portability-- especially when you live in a city that requires a lot of running around. The less hassle the better and this burgundy is the perfect tone to work into your fall wardrobe.

The outfit: I like to have certain elements of contrast in most looks I create, so I juxtaposed the boxy backpack with a casual but quintessential white tee. But by rocking a new denim silhouette like the cropped wide leg and a Parisian-influenced neck scarf, I manage to turn simple basics from 0 to 60 in seconds. This look is chic while still super easy/comfy to move around in.

The location: We shot this at the park at Roosevelt Island. A tiny island in between Manhattan and Brooklyn, it’s a beautiful spot to take in all the views. The park has some stunning architecture and big lawn that’s great for lounging with friends or having a picnic. 

If I could sum this look up in three words I’d say: cool, casual, chic. More to come with my collaboration with Cambridge Satchel Company!

"Everyday" Dressing

Rachel Comey Top & Denim / Tory Burch Sandals

Thankfully as time has evolved, comfort has become a more prevalent factor when designers are creating garments for the “everyday woman”. I mean who wakes up in the morning and thinks, “Man, I really want to put on a stiff wool suit for work today”? For me some days it’s “is a garbage bag acceptable?” But all jokes aside, women today are not what they used to be. We’re moving, multitasking, getting shit done, so we need clothes that allow us to do all that AND look good while doing it. I find that summer is primetime for easy clothes and we have a bit more flexibility with it. I love a loose pant that transitions well from outside to in (think 100 degrees to 65) and a thin strap tank, basic or more interesting, like this origami-inspired one that I styled in a few variations. Both simple pieces that can be worked in different ways but without the fuss. I capped off the look with my favorite summer shoe style – the short heel sandal—cute, quirky, and that tiny extra lift. Just what I need it to be, the outfit is easy, breezy, (comfortable), and stylish.
